Its hard to tell from only 2 readings...usually u start checking a week or so before they are due and check morning and eve around the same time to get an idea of whats normal and then when it drops u know. Although some breeders state that what works for some bitches doesn't apply to others..all depends on the particular dog.
My experience was that a week before Tea' was due I checked her morning and eve and she stayed around 100, 101, in there somewhere, and then the evening before she whelped (she whelped at 10:30am), her temp dropped to around 99 (by the way the first thermometer I bought was awful, I went back for a more expensive brand).
If your girl goes into labor and you're scared, please post or ask one of us for a call, because we will certainly help you in any way we can. And if you even have the slightest doubt there is trouble, always better safe than sorry, call the vet... |
