I was just thinking about this today! I got Simon November 2003 and I was in my last 2 semesters of grad school. Honestly, I couldn't have chosen a worse time to get a puppy. I was researching and writing my thesis and just absolutely swamped with school. I remember nights of staying up writing and working while Simon slept in my lap. I did most of my work at night after he went to sleep. I had my mom to help (thank goodness) and it all worked out.
I look back on that time in my life now and am still amazed at how I did it. Marci, Layla has such a wonderful life with you and your parents. It's just a schedule adjustment for both of you
I have no question that you give Layla all the attention in the world and if you ever need a break, send her here and that will help me get some of Simon's energy out too
