When i picked Pixie up from her breeder last weekend she said to me..'you do realise she will be too small to breed from'? so i said...'yes of course...we will be getting her spayed'.. my breeder was NOT happy when i said that and proceeded to tell me the risks of putting such a tiny dog under an anaesthetic and told me her friend had lost a dog while having teeth pulled. I don't think pixie will be much over 3lbs as an adult so i'm not going to take the risk..i'm just too scared of losing her...she will only be put under anaesthesia if absolutley necessary. I wanted to get her spayed because my last yorkie, Heidi, developed mammary cancer later in life and i was told that if she had been spayed when she was younger she would have been less at risk. |
