all dogs are different, some you can leave food out and they will manage themselves quite fine. others will eat everything in sight, they have no control and are little piggies. it just depends on your dog, i would experiment first and monitor how your dog is eating if you free feed. most dry dog foods have amounts on the packaging , see if your dog maintains these guidelines. i myself feed both dry and raw. bean has dry out and eats it when i'm at work, but i notice a small bowl lasts her quite a few days. she gets raw food when i come home and that seems to satisfy her, usually a half a chicken wing a day works for her. she is a 6 pound yorkie and has a nice little figure
