I got my first apartment when I was 19....I LOVED it!!!!! I had to walk almost 2 miles to work each day (one way) because I couldn't afford a car, but it was worth it. I didn't even have a pet, so that is a luxury that you are starting out with. I'm telling you, there's nothing like your first place. It is so exciting. I don't think you'll be anywhere near as lonely as you may think; atleast I hope not. That is great that a YT'er is already willing to meet up with you....have a blast!!! (YIKES! I just realized that was 20 YEARS AGO!!)
