I remember this because when my mom brought her first one home it did fit in a teacup It was not associated with an idication as to how large it would be fully grown or anything of the sort and my mom's babies ranged in the 4-7 lbs. if I had to estimate.
It was only here that I understood what all the negative association was about and have formed my own opinion based on all that I have learned here.
I think that it is terrible to breed a tiny female solely for the purpose of getting a smaller sized litter weight and it seems the breeders I read on here are on top of their game knowing what they are doing so they don't breed a girl that is too tiny to birth a litter. However, I have also read posts here from people having no idea what they are doing, in a panic because their pregnant dog may be too small to birth the puppies that they allowed their dog to get pregnant with in the first place, nevermind all the emergency vet visits and sometimes death that comes with it. It breaks my heart.
I have always had large dogs, and I have to be honest when I say, sometimes I look at my lil' Lucy and I think OMG she would have the prettiest babies BUT I have no intention of having a batch up puppies just to fill my desire to be surrounded by baby Yorkies. I'll just have to get my fill with looking at all the precious ones on here coming from responsible, experienced breeders. | GOOD POST!!!
