[bear bears gram]

I have used the shock collar on my cocker spaniel. I had to go back to work and she wasn't use to me being gone and i got a call from the apt mgr, so i got a shock collar that has like 6 different phases to it, the first time a little zip, the 2nd time with in 60 seconds or maybe 30 seconds, a harder zap, and so on up til the 6th one. Well, I put it on her and she barked and I'm telling you, it's probly not funny, but she went scooting across the living room and yelped and it zapped her again and she scooted back across the living room and yelped only one more time... the collar worked, I didn't get kicked out and it didn't keep her from barking when necessary. She will cry and howl when I leave now, but it only lasts about 5 minutes, then she knows I am gone and she is good, she still barks at "noises" that come close to my door. The shocking they do with those collars, if you buy the right one for the size of dog you have does not hurt them, it is just enuf to get their attention. It worked for me and I only had to use the collar when I left for about a month, after that, I was able to put it up and I have never had to bring it out again.

I guess I am "lucky" so far in that my little bear bear doesn't do alot of barking... except for when i get in the tub for a bubble bath and a book read... then he comes in and thinks it's play time... so I will play and bark back at him for about 15 minutes and then I tell him that's enuf, he doesn't think so and so finally I quit telling him no, start reading the book and then he finally figures out, grammy's not playin no more... but for some reason, he thinks the bathroom is play bark time. He does bark when there are "intruder" noises... but we go check it out, I open the door, he takes a walk out on the porch, sees that noone is there and comes back in perfectly content and not another sound out of him. he just had to make sure... such little guys with such big hearts... doncha just love em.
