Max and Abbie are afraid of it but they don't bark at it--just run away from it. Max is funny, though--he seems to be a bit curious so he'll slowly creep toward it, but then jump back about 5 ft and run away. This cycle goes on the entire time I vacuum. I used to think that the size of it was a factor. Since yorkies are so much smaller than vacuum cleaners, it would seem logical that they would be scared of the size but I saw my brother's 90 lb boxer's reaction to the vacuum for the first time when I was dog sitting a few weeks ago. He's the most gentle, laid back, non-barking dog that I have ever met but when that vacuum cleaner was brought out and turned on, he lunged at it, kept barking and tried biting on it

. I was afraid that I was going to hurt him! I wonder if they feel a vibration when the vacuum is turned on and that along with the noise makes them freak out...
