I'm pretty sure the same rules apply as to humans. If it is a chemical such as a cleaning solution - do not induce vomiting as it burns going down, it will burn again coming back up. There is a special charcoal you feed that will soak it up and milk will help coat the sytem.

For most everything else, inducing vomiting asap can lessen results. Knew about the peroxide, but not the salt. Great tip!!!!!

You do need to be careful when they ingest medication. A friend of mine's yorkie ate a few sleeping pills (almost died) and the vet said DO NOT induce vomiting as it can regurgitate the effects of the meds. Better to be safe and call poison control.
