I was in fourth grade.. I didn't find out until I got home.. My mom usually got home at 5 and she was home when I got home so that was wierd.. I walked into my grandparents house and my grandmothers bawling her eyes out and my mom told me.. She said something then said something along the lines of the country goign to war.. I started crying and so did my sister.. Thankfully right after it happened my grandmother got through to my uncle who lives right accross the brooklyn bridge.. my uncle happened to have been taking my youngest cousin to school that day becaus eit was her first day and they were on the promanade so was my aunt and other two cousins but they were on the other side of the promanade.. they saw both planes hit.. Thank God my uncle was late to work that day.. If you look at pictures there is a black building that is like right next to where the twin towers were and that is where he worked at the time.. That day many of my cousins friends lost one or both of their parents and my aunt and uncle lost many friends.. It never really hit me (I was only 9) until we went to go visit my uncle more than a week later and he brought us up into his office and if you looked out the window and down you saw ground zero.. It was really hard goign through school today and only twice was it actually mentioned.. Over the intercom and then in Theology class.. I think there should have been a ceremony or somethign to honor all those that died.. anyways look at this website.. the family now lives next door to one of my friends and she gave me the site.. Everytime I look it bring tears to my eyes.
