A ferret carrier. When Gracie was a tiny puppy, I zipped her in that and put it at the head of the bed. I was so afraid of her falling off the bed, plus I wanted the effect of a crate for potty training. When she stirred and fussed, I woke up and took her potty. Worked like a charm! By the time she was too big for it, she was potty trained and using the puppy steps to get on and off the bed. Not one fall off the bed either!
