We use the spray bottle. It works most of the time and often we just have to "show" it. I've heard of putting citronella or lemon juice in the water if the water isn't doing, but you have to be careful not to get it in their eyes. I think the Bitter Apple would do the trick too.
We say NO BARK when he's barking and "good quiet" when he's quiet. I'm afraid of the "good no bark" suggested would sound too similar and be confusing (or maybe it would only confuse ME!). I'm s-l-o-w-l-y getting to the point where I can say "quiet" when he's barking and he knows what I'm asking for. I also use a quiet hand signal (finger to the lips) at the same time.
They're nothing more cutting than a Yorkie's bark. AARRGGHHH. |
