Anyway, it's a clear syrup. You put a little on some squares of cardboard and it's sweet, so they are drawn to it. Then they take it back to their nests and kill them all. It really works!!   |  
 
  It's Terro.  It's the ONLY thing that deals with the Argentine ants (the teeniest ones).  It's Boric Acid.  It also now comes in traps, so you don't have to put the liquid on the cardboard anymore.  Although, the bottle might be good for pouring in some cracks outside.  Just beware, it will draw more ants at first.  But they will take it back to the nest.   
AND Coby just found a trap in our house that was missed in puppy-proofing and chomped on it a couple of times.  Their website states that it is not harmful to pets and people.
