Welcome. Re pooping. When mine were young I literally took them out about every 30 mins to one hour and after playing, sleeping or eating. When they were not outside learning, they were confined to a small area and preferably the same area all the time. In my case, it was our den. Many people put them in a playpen or their kennel. If I was not able to watch them, like at night, that's where they were. I did not pee pad train them. I just watched them but the point is to keep them confined. Puppies are eating and drinking 24/7, so they are peeing and pooping 24/7 until they learn to pad or outside potty. When your puppy does well, make a big deal out of it and give him a treat, I use Cheerios, just one or two, the honeynut kind because the honey is good for them. Once they do it and get rewarded and praised, they want to please you and will be housebroken. However, they are small, have tiny organs, so be patient. I remember Chloe learned several tricks in one afternoon when she was just a couple of months old and I remarked to a friend that as smart as she was, just why couldn't she figure out potty. My friend, who also has a terrier, said well, they're smart enough to potty in the house to get attention too. Hmmmm |
