Best present my hubby ever got me was my two puppies. We left to get one and came home with two. It has been wonderful! They kept each other company from the beginning. My husband, who always hated small yappy dogs, loves them to death. He jumps down on the floor when he walks in the door. The pups are always there waiting, they hear his car come up. (And they are not yappy, we never really let them bark much, right from the beginning.)
