Default Location of pee pads

I'm training Watson to use the pee pads. He is almost 13 weeks old and I just moved into a new condo so I feel like his training is starting all over. I would like to eventually have the pee pads in the bathroom when he gets older and learns that is where to go. My parents had cats, when I was growing up and it is A LOT easier training them to use a liter box (which were always in the bathroom). So...here is my question, can yorkies learn to go down the hall, into the bathroom..to go pee? Or is that too complicated? Do the pee pads have to be in a more "active" room? For the time being I'd have another pad out in the living area so he learns to go on the pads, but I would like to eventually just have the one pad in the bathroom. Any thoughts....
