Tjdmom and Shadow gave some good advice -- the photo paper that you print and iron on works terrific -- just follow the directions carefully. And it is very easy to do. Lots of fun for Mother and Daughter to decorate a shirt together! I have made several items using that type of fabric. A hoodie or a vest either one would look totally cute. There are several people who could help you out with a hoodie, and if you decided that you might want a silk vest instead, I can help out.
