I do just what you do though I vary the meat from day to day. I add brown rice but no vegetables. I tried it several times and they wouldnt touch it. I do add missing link but no vitamins. Im not sure I am giving them what they need and frankly, though I love them to death, I am not willing to do anything more complicated. I want to switch back to dog food where I just open a bag or can and can feel like they are getting what they need.

I also recommend the book by Dr. Pitcairn.
Please, please, please don't go back to feeding just dog food-especially a low quality dog food-after you've started feeding them a quality diet of homemade food.
Zoeybear, the diet you're feeding sounds great. I recommend that you make the Healthy Powder in Dr. Pitcairn's book and use that instead of the missing link. The Healthy Powder includes calcium and other ingredients so you can be assured your dog is getting the vitamins she needs. I also think you should broaden the horizons of food she's getting

That way she will try new things, get new vitamins in her diet, and she will be less apt to be a picky eater in the long run. Try treats of other vegetables and fruits like peeled apples, bananas, frozen green peas, lettuce, seeded cucumber, and cantaloupe. Also 1 tsp of cottage cheese or plain/vanilla yogurt mixed in with fruit or egg is great for breakfast. Try scrambling eggs and cooking in the microwave too for something different. My dogs love rice, but they also get oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, and whole wheat bread (crumbled) too!
Keep up the great work-your dog will be healthier and happier!!!
