I am not sure what could be wrong but they may be concerned about Pyometra, especially if the discharge stopped and then started again. Since this is her first heat it is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY UNLIKELY (don't want to scare you) I would say. I don't know what else it could be but it is good that they are being safe.
