Who wouldn't want one...they are wonderful! On a serious note though, what you are wanting is going to be hard to come by. I doubt you will ever find one 'for free.' I can understand you not wanting to pay an outrageous price...sometimes they can get a bit ridiculous, but you have to understand that in order for a breeder to produce good, quality, healthy dogs, they have to put in lots of time and $$$ to ensure the best and it is only right that they should try to charge a price to help they get back those expenses. I know that doesn't make you want one less, just a little insight as to WHY they are so much.
As someone suggested, I would look at some local rescue groups. True, they will still charge you a fee, but it would probably not be as much. I understand what others are saying about not being able to afford the medical care required if you can afford the dog, but I also understand that it may not be a case of not being able to afford either, but more so not being willing to pay that much. Personal preference, really...
