It didn't seem to bother her much when I touched it. So I cleaned it up and put some neosporin on it. I called the vet and they said they may have to put her under to drain it then put her under antibiotics. Seems a little excessive to me. Anyone had any experience with this?
My Joey has never scooted, but his right anal gland has burst 2 times. He did not have to be put under, our Vet just cleaned it real well and then gave us an antibiotic to. At his annual and bi-annual visits, our Vet check them and they are always clearn. It hasn't happened now for well over a year and the Vet thinks it probably won't happen again. I sure hope not, it scared me to death.

Our Vet showed us pictures of how the anal glands look and there is a small canal that sometimes is just plain not big enough, or it can get blocked and infected. It they burst too many times, it is recommended to have them removed and must be done by a specialist.
