They can smell the fear and death. Also if you decide to do this please, please have a pair of shoes that you put on and take off at your car at the shelter. These shoes should never enter your yard or home - again so you don't bring any diseases like parvo home. I would also carry handwipes in the car to clean your hands after you have been in the shelter.

It is a wonderful thing you are going to do but you do have to take precautions so you do not harm your furbabie(s) at home.
