Don't laugh. This ain't pretty! I replaced my shower door in my master bath yesterday. As the sealant was not cured, I decided to shower in the hall bathroom. This is not the first time I used the shower in this bathroom, but I usually use the tub in there because I don't have a tub in my master bedroom. Anyway, I forgot to turn on the fan, but had the door open. Half way through the shower my smoke detectors go off. I run all over my house looking for the smoke. There was none. I realized it was the steam from the shower that set off the smoke detector in the hallway by that bathroom. Well, I have a security system with smoke detectors and other smoke detectors that are wired into my house. I pushed the buttons on both trying to reset them and could not get them to go off. I had visions of the Fire Department arriving with me in my birthday suit, frantically trying to turn off the *&^%$ smoke detector. I checked my security system and found those were not the detectors that were triggered. I finally had to reset the circuit breaker to get the *&^%$ smoke detectors to turn off. Lesson learned: Don't put a smoke detector next to a bathroom with a shower. If you do, seal the thing with plastic before you take that hot shower!
You may all stop laughing now!
