Welcome to YT.

You'll want to socialize your yorkie from the time you bring it home. Socialization should be done before they are 16 weeks old. Some say it is too late after that. That includes car rides, allowing them to go and see many places and into different types of buildings (where you can take little dogs), allowing them to meet other dogs that belong to friends and you know have been vaccinated. I suggest a complete horizon of experiences (including your boat (and don't forget the life jacket) before they are sixteen weeks of age and you should have a well-rounded, sociable yorkie that doesn't yap.

This should help you with the food. I feed Natural Balance Ultra-Premium, but there are lots of great foods and you can decide for yourself:

I trained my yorkie to go outside using doorbells and on pads in the attached garage on piddle pads in bad weather or at night. I could have just trained her to use pads in the house, but this is the way I trained my other one and it worked great then, so I continued with Kacee. They can sometimes be very difficult to housetrain if you work. So, if you do work, be prepared for a longer process and more mistakes.

Good luck!
