Raw means it not altered or finalized yet. you can make a bunch of changes to colors and touching up much nicer. I personally dont use it as I am not that savvy with photoshop or equivelant programs which are what you use to alter a RAW picture. I just stick with Jpeg and small fixes maybe someday I will learn how to fix RAW pics!
