This may seem like obvious questions, but has she had any recent injuries, even minor ones? You don't mention how long this has been going on...sometimes even minor injuries can cause stiffness that can give them pain. Is it a continuous pain, or does it seem intermittent?
If the x-ray shows no damage, my first thought would be muscular strain, injury, or damage, which would require heat and possibly anti-inflammatories.
My second thought was tetanus, which causes painful muscular contractions. Has she had any nicks, scratches, or cuts?
My final thought was neurological, which would involve some pretty advanced tests to diagnose and confirm. |
