We have some for our bed since it's so tall and it scared me when they would just jump out on their own. Plus it's nice now because they can get keep up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, get water, etc. and then get back into the bed without waking anyone up.
I bought mine from eBay. They are really nice and hand-crafted. I wanted something that looked better than the cheap-looking ones at Target, Walmart, etc. Also, I wasn't sure how sturdy the discount store ones would be.
