My Tinkie eats cat poo too! She also....licks the cats butt!! Ha ha I was really grossed out like you and called up the vet hysterical thinking that she was doing something abnormal. The vet told me it is a natural thing for animals to eat poo. She said that the cat has better tasting food and it draws the puppy to the poo. I started to mix a few cat food pellets in her puppy food and I have the cat box in a room with a closed door when the cat is outside. Another thing you can do is put up a baby gate, my cat can jump on and over the gate to get to his box but Tinkie can't. I would just try to make access to the litter box limited to the cat only by using a gate. But, the cat poo your puppy occassionally gets into, shouldn't make puppy sick.
