I always keep their butt areas trimmed so that the poo thing doesn't happen...The poo can get stuck and then they can get very constipated, and it's painful for them. The hair on the head, you can either start pulling it up into a little clip or a band or you can trim it.
My husband and I do all the grooming at home...everything from nails to expressing the anal glands only if necessary...I had a bad experience with my previous dog (RIP Buddy) at a groomer's...
