We have both as well and I really prefer the lamanent. (sp) It doesn't scratch or show wear like the hard wood. You never have to refinish it. If I were you I would go to a couple of flooring stores and talk to the sales people and look at some of the samples they have of both that have been down for a while. By the way we had the exact same thing happen to us back in the winter, flooded my whole kitchen and dining room. We tore up the hardwood and put in new lamanent. Would do it again in a heart beat.
