People food is very healthy for dogs, much healthier than most of the kibbles out there...
You just need to know what to stay away from...I wouldn't give him food off your plate, as we use too much seasonings and condiments on our food that are not good for them. Stay away from pork, turkey skin, and fatty foods...
You can feed healthy foods like skinless chicken, brown rice, all kinds of veggies (steamed or pulverized), fruits (make sure NO seeds), lean ground turkey, lean ground beef, oats cooked in water, cooked sweet potatoes, cooked white potatoes, etc. Just don't add any seasonings to your dogs food.
Try to find a good book on homecooking for your dogs. One that I recommend is called Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Health for Dogs and Cats...
You also need to add supplements, like calcium...This book should tell you which ones...
I like to cook big batches so that I only have to cook every 3-4 weeks for my dogs...I keep out enough for 2 days, and freeze in 2 day portions in freezer bags. On the 2nd day, I take out the next bag to thaw for the next day...
Good luck!
