At 4 months you want to be feeding him 3 times a day. Space these out, one when he gets up in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. You may well find that if you give him a snack right before bed he will sleep better and won't wake up too early. You can feed 'people' food or 'dog' food, but

I feed raw because my dogs do best on it, they are thriving. However don't feed raw unless you are confident that you can get it right, its like giving yourself a healthy diet you have to get the balance of different nutrients correct.
