I pray the dog is going to be alright & got to the vet!
Everybody is in a hurry. But speeding in neighborhoods is ridiculous.
Contact the police, the city council and the media.
One of my girlfriends successfully got a stop sign put up in her neighborhood with the smallest effort. Read what your city requires. The more neighbors you get behind you the better. Perhaps you could even work to get the speed limit dropped to 25 mph in your neighborhood. Also, call your city councilperson at home & make them aware of it going on - this is their job - you are not bothering them!
I live on a busy neighborhood street - it lays between 2 main arteries of my city - actually both these other streets reach out into the suburbs to the east & west. The speed on my street is 30 mph which makes no sense, because the next street over is 25 mph & has plenty of stop signs, while there is only 1 stop sign on my street between the 2 main arteries. I ought to work on getting it lowered because I can't believe how fast people drive and I remember a decade ago - when I raised Bichons and knew nothing about Yorkies, I saw one of the little yorkies that a gal 2 blocks down had, laying dead on the parking in front of her house evidently killed by a car.
Does your police department have those mobile units that tell drivers how fast they are going? I see people slow down when they see those units. Get the police department to put one on your street for a week or two & video tape people as was suggested earlier. Call the police & ask to speak with someone in the traffic department - that's who handles speeders.
Also, I work in the media - that's a good place to turn to. Media outlets are suffering these days - they are all looking for the local story to get people reading or tuned in. Speeders are definitely that type of story because people are passionate about others not speeding in their neighborhoods.
One of our local TV stations did this entire feature this spring called SOS - Stop Our Speeders - they actually asked viewers to email them with speeding problems, they mapped all the neighborhood problems in the city & gave some viewers speed guns to go out & clock the speeders with. Then they got the police involved. If you want to see/read some of the reports here are two links:
