As I posted when you were looking for a new camera, I love the Canon line! If you have AI something-or-other as a choice for focusing, be sure to turn it off. It is usually responsible for difficulty in focusing. Also, if you can select the center focus point for focusing - it is also advisable.
The images you posted are really great! Super sharpness on your subject. I didn't notice any off-focus subjects or backfocusing that tends to be exhibited in point & shoot cameras. Sometimes point & shoot doesn't really mean P&S!
