The standard is written for that ideal dog, something that all breeders should be striving for. Not to exceed 7 pounds. However, just because a yorkie is larger or smaller doesn't make it any less a yorkie. You just wouldn't take an undersized or oversized yorkie into the show ring.

Everytime I read one of these posts I wonder why one is so obsessed with the size of the yorkie and just not happy that their yorkie looks like a yorkie and is happy and healthy.

Yes, they come in all sizes, shapes and colors.....however, they are a Toy Breed....nothing else not a Teacup, Miniture, Standard Size.....Just a Toy dog.
