First off, he will be fine. You will be a mess all day of course, but he will do OK and much better off in the long run.

Follow your vet's advise. If they said no food or water after a certain time that would include Nutrical. It is important that they have an empty stomach to avoid any problems with anesthesia.

I doubt they will let you leave any stuff with him. They will probably be prepping him for surgery very shortly after you drop him off anyway.

If Wobie is prone to hypoglycemia just make sure your vet or the intake person is aware of it and ask what they do to avoid problems. Maybe something in the IV. If he never has had problems before, he shouldn't now.

He probably won't feel much like eating for quite a while afterwards. My vet gave me specific after care instructions. It was something like a tiny bit of water at first. If they had no problem keeping that down, then a little bit of soft food, and so on. Some dogs do have stomach issues after anesthesia and he may still be a little groggy -- mine sure were.

By the next day, it was as if nothing had ever happened. Cheer up -- he'll be fine.
