You don't need to call UPS. If you follow the tracking information and notice that the package is listed as "Out for Delivery" status, then just leave a note for the UPS person on the front door or gate so they know what to do with the package and to ensure that they securely close the gate. Luckily nothing serious happened, but a phone call is not necessary. Or, if you see him around the neighborhood frequently and he is your regular driver and not a spare driver, just go up to him and tell him what to do next time.
