I've only used a crate when leaving the house, never during the day when I was home before, so I don't know what to tell you about the constant barking. Giving a treat when going in the crate helped us. Perhaps try an x-pen rather than the crate and maybe use a wee-wee pad in the pen??
Yorkies can be very stubborn when potty training.
Even though you think he isn't giving you signals, he might be very subtle. Sissy just sits and looks at me. It took me a long time to figure that out. I would take him outside again no later than 30 minutes after he eats. Both my girls go pretty quickly following a meal.
