The ones from pet stores seem to always have a nasty smell.
I had an odd number sell, so I gave the one left over package to our lab. I really didn't notice a smell too much, but I'm eager to get all my reviews about them!  | If you can get them without the smell and your cost is competitive, you should do really well.
