When you go back in to remove the sutures, have your vet scan the chip to make sure it reads the number. Its a good idea to have it test-scanned every time you're at the vet just to make sure it is scanning right and hasn't migrated. Once you get all your information sent in, you can also have your vet scan your chip and check the information in the computer to make sure it is correct. Lacy doesn't wear the tag that goes with her chip.
