You may never see any blood. When Lacy was in heat I never saw any blood at all. I don't know if she just didn't bleed or if she was just keeping herself clean. She's spayed though now. So far as diapers, you don't neccessarily need them, especially if she's not bleeding. If you have any males, keep them 100% separated for 4 weeks just to be safe (normal heat is 3 weeks). Don't leave her unattended outside for even a minute - a male dog can smell a female in heat 3 miles away and you wouldn't believe what they can do to get to the female - climb extremely high fences and dig under - and it only takes a few minutes sometimes. So watch her like a hawk
