Bitter apple gets a lot of rave reviews, I personally have not tried it. I did provide Greenies when I could oversee it and when mine were puppies they would just eat them like a beaver. I also used the No method and made sure they have toys, point out the toy and play with them. Sometimes it is boredom, needing attention and of course, teething. The other method that worked for me was a small spray bottle with water. One spray in the face broke bad behavior very quickly now they can just see the bottle in my hand and they know/stop. Do not let them have too many toys, I keep it down to 3 and then change to another 3, sometimes having too many is overwhelming. I found that some toys are better chew toys than others, a rope was one thing they loved. Even with everything, though, puppies chew. I tried to tell myself when Chloe chewed the poster of my new four poster bed that it wasn't a big deal. After all, when I'm gone, someone will appreciate the little bite marks. However, hubby did not exactly see it that way when Lacey chewed his prized antique rocker. At that point he commanded that anything of value be put out of reach! Sure, right. |
