I got my dog at 2 years and she was not housebroken. I think you can train an older dog pretty easily and quickly if you are willing to spend the time it takes. Can you get a long weekend some time to work on nothing else? The suggestions you've been given have been good.

1st - she needs to know that going outside is GOOD! It will make you very happy and bring treats. You need to take her out and stay with her until she goes! Do not free feed her at this time - feed twice a day, give her 15 minutes, then put the food away.

Then, 2nd - she needs to know that going inside is NOT GOOD! No happy mom and no treats. Just put outside with a big NO.

3rd - and most important - she is to have NO FREEDOM at this time. Wear her like a fashion accessory. Leash on and attached to you at all times so she has no chance to go in the wrong place.

Believe me - this works!
