i guess it's ok if she recognizes the location at home...the main reason that i want her to recognize the pee pad is so we can bring her to other ppl's houses. everytime we visit someone's house, she soils their carpet because she cannot find her play pen. in other instances, if i bring her out with me all day, she will hold it, which i don't think is good for her.

Wellllllllllll, I'll tell you my experience. My yorkie is 100% housebroken. WILL NOT go in the house for anything. I trained her to go outside in the daytime and in the garage on pee pads at night and in bad weather. She is now 28 months old and if I move the pads in the garage, then she'll go where they were!
But it's my garage, not my house! So, I just put them back where she wants them and not where I wanted them.
