Lillie matted alot when she was a puppy also. And...she didnt' like to get brushed. I would put cherrios on the counter as I was brushing her and kept telling her she was a good girl...even though she fought me! I use Cowboy Magic and a slicker brush. If I find a stubborn matt I put a drop of CM on the matt and work it in with my fingers. You can't just brush from the root to the end...you have to start from the end and work to the root. Don't take alot of hair...do little sections at a time. Now that Lillie is a big girl (14 months old) she doesn't mind brushing anymore. I will put her on my lap when I am watching tv, use the CM and brush her out. She doesn't get matted like she used to. You have to experiment with the CM...you don't want to use too much or they look like a little grease ball.

I was told human products are too harsh for dogs. I found they it would drly out their skin to much and make them itchy. But, whatever use whatever works for you.
