No, I saw no bleeding, not at first nor at the 2nd tie. The boys were "mad" with desire. The first time they tied the boys were very excited so I thot it was time. But after the first time for each of them they lost interest. I think it was just the excitement getting to them. I think the 2nd time they tied with the girls the timing was better and I know they can tie before the female ovulates.

What worries me is that a few months ago I lost a female and her babies when the babies came too early. That female did not tie a week early tho. I think I am safe going with the 2nd ties but like everyone advises I will watch from the due date of the first tie. Sylvia
Some dogs have what is called "silent heats" meaning little or no signs of heat are seen such as swelling or bleeding.

Another is called "split heats" where dogs goes into a heat cycle but don't ovulate but then go into a fertile heat period weeks later.

This makes it difficult to determine the correct breeding dates. This is where progesterone testing becomes important. The first significant, sustained rise in progesterone usually coincides with the "LH Surge". This is important because ovulation occurs about 48 hours after the LH surge.
