I have been a nurse for 24 plus years. At first I was disgusted by things. You know, it is kind of like changing a baby's poopy diaper. When you first start doing it, it is really disgusting. Then, you never really enjoy it but you just accept it, do the job and move on to something else.

There are some things that really did bother me enough to direct me to my speciality. I could never stand working in the ER. I prefer to have my patients put together, for the most part, when I take care of them. Somehow I could not stomach severed body parts coming into the ER on ice or in plastic bags. I also could not stand dealing with burns. Still can't. I hate taking care of kids, not because I don't like kids but because I just get too emotional when they are hurting and I can't stop their pain. It takes special people to deal with each specialty. You will find yours.
