Exact same things has happened with ours since we got her. She's 9 mos. old and we figured out early on that when her tummy is empty, she will throw up bile (the yellow, greenish, foamy stuff) and will be nauseated until we can manage to get something into her tummy which settles it down and then she will eat normally. So we feed her more often than the standard doggy books say. I think many of them suffer with this same thing.
Anyway, we found the way to cure this is to never let their tummies get too empty! When they are little, don't go past 6 hours with nothing to eat. As they get older, don't go past 8 hours. For us, our dog will eat broken pieces of plain rice cakes, or honey-nut cheerios which seem to settle her tummy and after a few minutes, she starts to feel better and we can get her to eat her normal food. After that, she's fine.
We do just fine with this method. And for the most part, she only does this a couple of times a month when we haven't been vigilent with her feeding schedule. |
