Liver Vets have gone overboard with liver shunt testing..totally freaking out owners...and this is not just my opinion, but the opinion of several liver specialists...
If you have a Yorkie with no symptoms of a shunt, a Yorkie who eats well, keeps a decent weight, reasonably active, no seizures or walking against the walls, then the chances of a liver problems are so slim. Bile acid can be thrown off by so many things in a Yorkie..
I am not defending BYBers..but Liver shunt can be a problem in the finest show breeder kennels in the world..it knows no bounderies..so just because the breeder was not the best, means nothing in this case..JMO.If anything many pet breeders do not line or inbreed..generation after generation they breed unrelated and do not try to set a type or establish a line of their own...
If you had sick Yorkies, I would be the first to tell you to do all the test..otherwise don't go looking for trouble..best wishes
PS...EATING all the time is NOT a symptom of a liver shunt..LS Yorkies don't eat for the most part...eating is GOOD!!!!! Eating like a piggy is great..mine eat like hogs...
