I just don't understand why some vets still insist on keeping these little one's overnight. I'd much rather and I'm sure you would much rather bring him home where YOU can see after him. I would ask if anyone will be there overnight and if not perhaps you can insist as some others here have that you bring him home and just sign a release. I'm sure, though, that he'll be ok. It's the best thing to do for him and knowing that you are also protecting him from getting cancer in his old age makes it well worth it.
